Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE; As an Engineering Manager, you are a key player on the Web Applications team—managing and mentoring senior and lead engineers and owning overall team growth and development. You help ensure the quality of team deliverables, success, and profitability and manage team resourcing and utilization. In addition to your management responsibilities, you develop apps that embody Fueled’s commitment to building exceptional products while working collaboratively with highly skilled and passionate team members across the globe. You are excited about learning and experimenting with cutting-edge technologies and creating innovative technical solutions with a high standard of execution and performance. Under the guidance and direction of your manager and continued mentorship from our lead and principal engineers, you will have the opportunity to continuously expand your personal and professional skills. You will also help advance the continued growth of the Web team by suggesting best practices and evaluating available frameworks and toolchains that help establish the technical direction for the web development practices. WHAT WE EXPECT; 6+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in web frontend development A degree in Computer Science or related field and/or know CS Foundations like data structures, networking, security, and performance. One to two years of experience in a leadership role with your current technical expertise Expert in developing performant and secure JavaScript applications (5+ years) especially using ReactJS (3+ years) Experience with Redux and TypeScript and/or Flow and (1+ years) You have built stateful single-page applications using HTTP/JSON APIs, WebSockets, Web Workers, and client-side storage You have experience building and packaging mobile apps (iOS/Android) with React Native (2+ years) and are comfortable developing animations, gestures, and deep-linking in React Native Experience working with a wide variety of third-party platforms, frameworks, and libraries You have been part of an agile development team and favor open communication, constant feedback and short decision paths A strong understanding of Agile principles and methodologies, including workflows and ceremonies You have an eye for detail, esp. around user experience and secure coding practices. You have very good written and spoken English skills THE IDEAL CANDIDATE Has a natural leadership ability with a strong capacity to mentor other less experienced developers Is by nature highly team-oriented and collaborative: believes the best work can be achieved when a talented group of smart people work effectively together Ability to influence project stakeholders with a demonstrated track record of building consensus and delivering results Has proper understanding of semantic markup and know to build interactive pieces that comply to web accessibility standards. Has personal projects or frontend related code contributions to open source community and actively publishes on web development related development topics Has written automated tests to make the code more robust and defect-free. INTERVIEW PROCESS Kudos for submitting your application, you’ll be hearing from us within the next 48 hours! Well done, you scored an interview! We’ll set up a Google Meet for an initial screening with a member of our Talent team to formally introduce you to Fueled! You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have. This screening will last approximately 30 minutes. The next step in our process requires you to complete a minimal coding exercise and submit back to us within a given timeframe. If your code exercise passes our evaluation, we’ll set up a technical interview with one of our Web developers. In this interview we will ask you to make adjustments to your code, so please be prepared. This chat will last approximately 1 hour. If all goes well after the technical round, you'll chat with Saurabh Kumar (Director of Web Engineering), and Sage Young (Executive Director, Engineering and Technology) to better assess your skills and experience. In this call, you’ll be able to ask questions about team dynamics, current practices, expectations, etc. The interview will be approximately 1 hour. Congrats!
