ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT: The Steward/Chef/Server will assist the department in meeting its operational and customer service expectations. The incumbent will be responsible for fulfilling vacancies in the department including station commissary, on-board crewing assignments such as chef, steward or waiter. The successful candidate is required to have the ability to work long hours and manage changing work assignments with little notice. MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: The Steward/Chef/Server is responsible for supporting staffing requirements of the On-Board Services Department at Ontario Northland Support department through commissary, assist with loading supplies onto the train Plan and direct food preparation, cooking and serving activities on the Polar Bear Express train service between Cochrane and Moosonee Ensure food meets quality standards Estimate food requirements Prepare and cook food on a regular basis Clean and sanitize kitchen areas and dishes Responsible for providing quality customer service including implementation of outlined procedures in the event of train delays and/or services disruption As a spare board employee, must have the flexibility to be available 2 hours prior to train scheduled departure times
