The company’s expertise in networked processors has evolved into in a line of high-performance, fault-tolerant flight control and sensor processing hardware and software solutions in wide and varied advanced space applications. Xiphos’ primary markets are small satellites, space station applications, as well as lunar landers, rovers, and robotics. We have delivered our standard and custom products all over the world and have been essential to many successful space missions. Our current line of standard hardware products includes the highly capable Q7, Q8, and Q8J. At the core of each processor is a hybrid environment of powerful multi-core CPUs and reprogrammable logic, providing enhanced flexibility and performance. Additionally, Xiphos designs numerous derivatives of, and daughterboards for, these processors. Xiphos also offers IP cores that are hosted on our Q-cards. With low power consumption, high processing power, enhanced flexibility, excellent robustness, and proven functions available off-the-shelf, our Q-cards are increasingly the preferred solution in the fast-growing field of NewSpace. ROLE DESCRIPTION As a Embedded System Design Specialist, you will help take state-of-the-art FPGA computing platforms beyond the earth's atmosphere and possibly to the surface of other worlds. Xiphos' technology leverages open-source tools and infrastructure for reliable performance, then extends them with robust layers to help customers' applications operate where no Linux devices have been before. You will be working with satellite payloads, science instruments, and vision processing algorithms. Xiphos computing platforms are tightly coupled with Xiphos' embedded Linux deployments to provide many features unique to space systems, such as fault tolerant automatic fail-over between redundant software configurations and exception handlers to operate with Xiphos' enhanced high-energy resistant EDAC system. Xiphos prides itself on exceeding customer expectations. Staff must take the care to understand not only the written requirements supplied by the customer but the inspiration behind them. These personal connections have led to long customer relationships and have expanded the team's horizons into diverse fields such as: Quantum key encryption processing Payload processing for specialized cameras Software-Defined Radios (SDR) On-Board Computers (flight controls) Lunar lander robotic arm controllers Lunar rover Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) computers · Innovative new Xiphos products (Q-cards, IP Cores, daughterboards…) MAIN TASKS: In the role of Embedded System Design Specialist, you will execute the following functions: Take responsibility for and design FPGA-based embedded processor systems: Develop and design platform architectures Perform schematic capture (Altium Designer) Perform PCB layout (Altium Designer) Work with test team to develop and execute functional and environmental hardware test plans Generate technical reports for design reviews Take part in the continuous improvement and application of QA and development processes
