The Role We are looking for an experienced Chef passionate about a person-centered approach to care, to join our Catering Team. This is a weekend role that involves working every Saturday and Sunday and every second Friday. Reporting to the Acting Residential Service Manager, the Chef provides a nutritious, appetising, and varied menu for residents that enhance their quality of life. This menu is nutritionally sound, is aligned to residents' individual medical and other needs and preferences, the Aged Care Quality standards, and regulatory requirements, and is delivered within budget. What You Will Do The Chef is responsible for ensuring: Manage all aspects of the Kitchen section, including training, leading and inspiring the Kitchen team to ensure a highly-skilled, well-organised and motivated team. Have creative input into seasonal menu development; assist in product development for menus that are tailored to an aged care setting. Working with a qualified dietitian to provide quality, fresh-cooked meals Oversee the day-to-day implementation of the Food Safety Program within all areas under control, ensuring all staff follow food safety and that the food prepared is compliant with HACCP Ensure food safety standards, preparation, presentation and cooking techniques are established, monitored and maintained to meet current Food Concept guidelines Delivery of food is executed in a timely manner Standardise production recipes, cooking methods and techniques to ensure consistent quality, presentation and cost of goods, ensuring all menu items are documented, photographed and cost in the required format prior to introduction. Follow through with any allergy and dietary requirements as requested for events, retail outlets and other allocated activities. Undertake ordering of stock for all kitchen areas needs, ensuring orders across sections are condensed to reduce excessive stock, and par stock levels are maintained Who are you and what will you bring? At least 2-3 years experience as a Chef in a residential aged care setting Completed Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery Completed Food Safety Supervisor Course Excellent communication skills (written, verbal & interpersonal) Hold and maintain NDIS Worker Checks as per NDIS Act 2013
