About Us Westhaven is and will continue to be the provider of choice for disability support services and accommodation across regional NSW. Westhaven provides client-centric, high-quality programs and activities that provide whole-of-life support for people with disability, including offering houses that are homes, enabling choice and control and supporting participants to live life the way they choose. About The Role As a Support Worker you will play an integral role in delivering on Westhaven’s purpose, to place our participants at the center of everything we do. You will work with adults, children and young people living with disability to provide assistance with daily living skills, personal care, community inclusion and participation activities. Work is undertaken in the context of supporting the participant to maintain their well-being, explore opportunities and work towards agreed outcomes that are important to, and for, the person. Key Responsibilities Support participants with daily living skills Promote and foster a positive, inclusive and respectful home environment that supports participants to live life the way they choose Actively engage in initiatives that support participants to engage in culturally appropriate activities Support participants to understand and make informed decisions regarding all aspects of their lives Support participants with social participation opportunities and accessing education, community and engagement activities Understand and implement individual support plans To be at the forefront of this opportunity you will: Be committed to providing exceptionally high-quality and safe participant experiences Be self-motivated, reliable and have the capacity to thrive within a fast-paced, collaborative environment Have the willingness to learn and contribute to a successful, positive team culture Be a positive person with the ability to display empathy, patience, enthusiasm and understanding Have the ability to interact positively at all levels, including dealing professionally with managers and colleagues Have demonstrated capacity to work with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals Be willing to support participants with daily living skills including health, medical, well-being, personal care, medication administration, meal preparation and household tasks Have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions Have demonstrated ability to be adaptable to changing circumstances and organisational requirements, and contribute to the needs of a rapidly expanding service Highly Regarded Criteria Proficient computer skills including the use of Client Management Databases and Google Suite (or similar) Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practices, human rights, and the NDIS Experience supporting individuals with a disability, complex needs, behaviours of concern and/or mental health Current First Aid Certificate Qualifications And Essential Requirements Of The Role Current NSW Driver’s Licence Qualifications in Disability Services, Community Services or Individual Support The ability to obtain and maintain a paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) The ability to obtain and maintain a National Disability Insurance Scheme Workers Check (NDISWC) Willingness to provide consent to be listed on the Residential Care Workers Register (RCWR) About Applying Please carefully review and answer all screening questions.
