About The Role Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the intern role will be exposed to all aspects of mechanical engineering including the effective and timely submission of professional and competitive tenders/bids for the supply of metal and fabricated products and structural steel projects. The primary activities associated with the role involves learning how to review project specifications, material take-offs, development of project solutions that offer value, determining cost-effective methods of manufacture, labor costs, material costs and other input costs, development of manufacturing and delivery programs, and packaging of professional bid documentation. Key Experiences that you will be exposed to: Proactively engage & build relationships with specifying engineers and consultancies. Develop value-add engineered mechanical solutions to clients and projects. Provide budget estimates for both standard and non-standard metal solutions. Prepare engineering designs, quotations/budget estimates. Provide engineering design input/assistance to Sales Managers and Production colleagues Participate in Client Relationship Management activities. Provide input into tenders, quotes, and contract reviews for major projects. Provide input into contract reviews, contract negotiations, and contract administration of major projects with a focus on technical specifications within contract documents. About You You have gained some experience in a metal engineering or structural steel industry and would like to get more involved in the production & detail of projects. You enjoy the technical/numerical but you also like to keep up to speed with what is happening in the wider world and enjoy reading up on the latest indicators, trends & engineering best practices. You are by nature very technically minded; analytical, logical, and fastidious about accuracy and meeting deadlines. What sets you apart is your ability to work with people and build relationships & connections across the steel industry. Relevant qualifications in an engineering or trade discipline Excellent communications skills both written & verbal Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD and or Solidworks Must have drivers Licence Fluent in English and have Permanent Residence This Role is a 6-week non-paid Internship that may lead to a permanent full-time position.
